The Mount Fuji Marathon offers a visually striking and physically rewarding challenge, set in one of Japan’s most iconic natural landscapes. Held annually in late November, the AIMS- and JAAF-certified course takes runners on a single-loop route around the twin lakes of Kawaguchi and Saiko in Yamanashi Prefecture. With majestic views of Mount Fuji rising over calm waters and autumn foliage, the marathon balances rigorous competition with serene surroundings. Originally the Kawaguchiko Marathon, this event evolved in 2012 into its current form, now attracting thousands of runners from Japan and abroad.
