The Taipei Marathon is Taiwan’s premier long-distance road race and a World Athletics Gold Label event, held each year on the third weekend of December. Since its inception in 1986, it has grown into one of the top four marathons in Taiwan, alongside Wan Jin Shi, Tianzhong, and Kaohsiung. With a fast, urban course that starts at Taipei City Hall and finishes in Taipei Stadium, the event features both full and half marathon categories and attracts a strong international elite field. In recent years, over 12,000 participants have taken part, highlighting its status as a major fixture in Asia’s road racing calendar. The course blends city-center streets with scenic riverside paths, and the event is known for its precise organization, elite standards, and urban energy.
