This unique endurance event takes place entirely on the frozen Rio Grande, offering participants the experience of running on a snow-covered river with views of the San Juan and Sangre de Cristo mountains from the San Luis Valley. If ice conditions are unsafe, an alternate course uses a pond and levee trail system to maintain the “on ice” experience. The race features chip timing and ice-themed awards. Participants are advised to wear footwear with microspikes or extra tread for safety. Race shirts are not included with registration but can be purchased separately during registration or at the event.
