About the race

The Mitsero Mine Run is a unique cross-country trail race in Cyprus, with distances of 15 km and 8 km. Organized by the Cyprus Trail Running Association, the event combines mass starts, chip timing, and a special “Miner’s Challenge” for athletes who tackle both distances. The course passes through the abandoned pyrite mines of Mitsero, featuring three open-pit craters, two kilometres of derelict ore-processing ruins, and wide views across the Troodos foothills. With 60% gravel roads and 40% rocky trails, the route balances runnable sections with technical variety while carefully avoiding unstable shafts. Aid stations every 4 km reflect local flavour, serving halloumi wraps and zivania-spiked coffee. Average November temperatures of 14–22°C make for comfortable racing conditions.
