About the race

“We Need To Talk About Chevin” is a demanding Category BM fell race designed for runners ready to push their limits on rugged terrain. Starting from Station Road, participants face a tough ascent to the iconic Surprise View, followed by a rapid descent to The West Gate. The challenge continues with the renowned Danefield climb, a rugged loop through Poolscar Wood, and a steep power line climb in the remote Fells Plantation. The route then returns to Chevin Forest Park for a final ascent up Miller Lane, before an exhilarating descent back to the finish line at Station Road. Covering approximately 14 km (9 miles) with an elevation gain of 650 meters (2,130 feet), this race demands both strength and stamina. After the race, runners gather at The Black Horse pub, where registration, post-race refreshments, and a warm atmosphere await — perfect for sharing stories and celebrating the day’s achievement. This event is a true test of fell running skill and determination, ideal for those seeking a serious challenge.
